We had several special readers read to our class during the week of Thanksgiving. The South High football players came to South E. to read to us along with several South High cheerleaders. We also had our principal, Mr. Blaisdell, and our vice principal, Ms. Dore-Cotreau read to the first grade on pajama day! Ms. Dore-Cotreau read a funny Thanksgiving story and Mr. Blaisdell read his favorite story, Harold and the Purple Crayon! Thank you to everyone for celebrating the joy of reading with our first grade class!
During writing time, students wrote about what they are thankful for. Then Mrs. Kneller, our technology specialist, recorded the students reading their writing. Amazingly, she made it seem as though the turkeys that the students colored are reading the thankful paragraphs!! Mrs. Trombly's Turkeys from Amy Kneller on Vimeo. Students wrote descriptive paragraphs describing their Halloween costumes and accompanied their descriptions with an illustration of their costume. Their classmates had to guess what the costume was by listening carefully to the details in the paragraph. They all did a wonderful job painting a clear picture in the reader's mind by using lots of details! |
